Play > iPads

No, kids don’t need iPads to learn.

They need to play.

And we play all damn day!

Kids learn through playing while also burning energy, using their creativity, and enjoying time with siblings, family, and friends.

Here are some ways kids learn and develop through play:

  • They develop cognitive, physical, communication, and social/emotional skills.

  • They grow healthy habits by being active and creative.

  • They are able to relieve stress through laughter and physical activity.

  • They have opportunities to be curious about the world around them.

  • They are put in situations where they can learn how to make decisions and see the outcomes of their decisions.

  • They become more mindful as they pay attention to the present moment and their present surroundings.

  • Their relationships with parents, siblings, friends, and other loved ones are nurtured.

It’s important for adults to play, too, but I’ll save that for another post in the near future.
