Homeschooling Q&A
My previous post I made on #homeschooling on my Instagram account got so much positive attention and so many questions- so here are some most common fears/ questions/ concerns when it comes to homeschooling that holds people back of making that leap.
I will share my experiences, beliefs and opinions that may help you in your journey of picking the right way to raise your kids. The right way is what is right for you and your family.

Wild and Radical is actually NORMAL.
Everything that is considered and accepted by masses and widely consumed and accepted as “normal” is abnormal to me. Everything considered “abnormal”, with common sense and close to human natural state is actually “Normal” to me.
Character Matters Part Three: We Need More Accountability
I believe athletes must have great character. They should be kind, respectful, resourceful, hard-working, and full of integrity on the court and off. I think most people would agree that these are good traits for all people, not just athletes.
But volleyball coaches and administrators at area middle schools and high schools are not addressing this issue. Due to the lack of time, a deficiency in coaching education, pressure from parents, and expectations about how many games they need to win, poor character in athletes is rarely--or never--addressed.
Character Matters Part Two: Why Is There a Culture of Mediocrity
Why spend money and time being committed to a sport and being a member of a team if you don’t want to give it your all and do your best and build meaningful relationships with teammates? Even if you aren’t best friends or even casual friends with the girls in your coaching group or on your team, why don’t you want to work together and hope for good things for others? Don’t you know you will be a better athlete if those around you are better athletes?
Character Matters: Part One
At Blockout Academy, I'm very big on all of the coaches and athletes respecting one another. Being respectful to those we work and play with is super important. Everyone in the gym needs to respect everyone in the gym. Respecting others includes respecting others’ time. All athletes need to respect Blockout Academy coaches’ time, their school’s coaches’ time, and their parents’ time, regardless of their skill level and where they go to school. Here are some of my thoughts on why having good character should be the #1 trait for athletes.
Why We ALL Need Grit
I love this post from D.J.’s website about grit and why it’s an important trait for entrepreneurs, athletes, and coaches. I’ll add it’s an important trait for everyone! We all have goals we want to accomplish. We all fail sometimes. So we need to bounce back and try again. The more grit we have, the easier this will become. And the only wait to develop grit is to push through the obstacles we face and achieve success on the other side. Happy Reading!
It’s Past Time to Celebrate Female Athletes
Okay. It’s time for me to speak up about something I’ve been noticing since I was a college athlete.

The Three Most Important Questions for Volleyball Athletes/ Parents
In the volleyball world, it’s time for school team tryouts--a time that never ceases to amaze me, naturally, because I understand the amount of work required to be good or great at anything.
Every year, I get many calls from parents and athletes inquiring about opportunities to get ready for tryouts. Sometimes they call me two to three days before their tryouts. Sometimes they call two to three weeks before, which is only a tad less puzzling.
Although “better late than never” applies to this situation, I always wonder and think about these three questions:

Salsa: The Super Snack!
Investing in health is much easier than ingesting pills. This is why I share things we make and love in hope that it will help you choose a healthier options for your lifestyle. I am also very frugal and don’t like spending unnecessary on bathing out and buying ore-made stuff. Salsa is one of our family and friends favorite snacks. Super delicious, super nutritious, super colorful, super tasty and super easy to make. For only couple of bucks you can have salsa for days, eat as a snack or add to your taco salad ,open burrito or use as a sauce.

Tryouts Are a Learning Experience!
As we approach tryouts and nerves are getting thin, both for athletes and parents, here are couple of reminders:
This is the time to be excited, not worried. You have the opportunity to show off your hard work. This is a young athlete’s first true athletic challenge. Celebrate!!!

Focaccia- Olive Oil Bread 🥖
Personally, I am sucker for freshly baked bread, and I feel in America that’s one thing that I always missed! In Serbia- we had fresh bread daily from local bakeries, often still warm freshly baked if you are an early bird. I’ve never had bagged bread until I got to America. To this day it’s one of my pet peeves.
We All Need to Accept that Volleyball is a Six Rotation Sport
Since I've been coaching in Alabama, I've noticed the tendency for both clubs and schools to make sure every player gets three rotations. It can be difficult and discouraging for athletes to sit on the bench and not get much playing time. On the other hand, breakdowns often lead to breakthroughs. Having true starters who play six complete rotations is the best approach, in my opinion.

Midday Health Cocktail
I love making my midday health cocktail!! It’s becoming my routine. It is so refreshing, uplifting and loaded with goodies! Hot pepper will raise your core temperature and warm up your ❤️
For few bucks you can have an everyday supply for weeks. It takes few minutes to make. No Excuses!

How One Volleyball Drill Can Change You
I tell the girls, “You can quit coming to me and you can quit volleyball. But we’re not moving on until we reach this goal.”
There is a lot of room for improvement for each girl individually and as a team member. Doing this drill and learning how to accomplish a goal while navigating the problems they face will help the girls succeed in all areas of life, for the rest of their lives. Succeeding in this drill, and learning the lessons this drill teaches them will move them toward a greater ability to excel on the court and off.

Nev’s OG Hummus
One of the favorites in Taylor house! I make my own and it cannot compare to anything store bought. Additionally, my hummus has no additives and stuff that shouldn’t hang out in your digestive systems.

Play > iPads
No, kids don’t need iPads to learn. They need to play. And we play all damn day!

Go Outside!
We created these tee-pees for my crawling veggies this spring and summer. We used fallen pine trees that were laying around and we think they look pretty good! Being outside has so many benefits. Here are some of my favorites.
